About Aeolus

Henan Tyre Factory was set up in Jiaozuo in 1965 and later took the Aeolus name. Part of the company was floated on the Shanghai Stock Exchange at the end of 2003. In 2007 Tyrepress reported output of about 2.7 million tyres a year. The company profile now gives capacity of 7 million truck and bus tyres and 800,000 engineering tyres.

Aeolus was part of ChemChina's rubber group alongside Yellow Sea, Double Happiness and Torch. In 2016 a reorganisation plan gave Aeolus the Double Happiness plant in Taiyuan and Qingdao Yellowsea Rubber, and moved 80 percent of its car tyre unit to Pirelli. Aeolus sold Yellow Sea again in December 2018. The parent is now Sinochem Holdings.

The Taiyuan factory, in Qingxu County, makes about 1.8 million all-steel radials a year with more than 1,200 staff. In August 2022 Tyrepress reported plans to move it to a nearby chemical park. The site had already moved out of urban Taiyuan in 2007.
