About Giti

The group began in Jakarta in 1951 and its Indonesian arm took the name PT Gajah Tunggal in 1961. It entered China in 1993 through a plant in Hefei, Anhui. A Fujian plant followed in 1995, and the group later acquired factories in Yinchuan in 2002 and Hualin in Mudanjiang in 2003. The international head office is in Singapore and the company remains in the hands of the founding family.

Giti is moving its Hefei production to a new site at Jiatong Industrial Park in Changfeng County. Construction started in March 2023 and the investment was reported at about 7.22 billion yuan. The planned output is more than 20 million passenger car tyres and 2.6 million truck and bus tyres a year. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2026.

Outside Asia, Giti opened a plant in Richburg, South Carolina, in October 2017 after announcing a 560 million US dollar investment. In May 2026 Modern Tire Dealer reported about 900 employees there and a first-phase capacity of five million passenger and light truck tyres a year.

Sourcing Giti from China

Giti-branded tyres come from Hefei and the other Chinese factories, Tangerang in Indonesia, or Richburg in the USA, so confirm the plant for each pattern. The Indonesian and US plants give an alternative origin where Chinese-made tyres face anti-dumping duties. Loading quantity, lead time and minimum order depend on your size mix.
