The company started in 1976 as Weihai Tire Factory and now sells in more than 180 countries. It is especially well known for radial OTR tyres and is an original equipment supplier to Caterpillar and Volvo.

Triangle began in 1976 as Weihai Tire Factory, was renamed Shandong Tire Factory in 1987 and became Shandong Triangle Tire in 2002. The company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in September 2016.
All production is in Weihai, split across five plants: Huasheng (passenger tyres, radial OTR and giant tyres), Huamao (commercial vehicle tyres), Huayang (high-performance passenger tyres), Huaxin (bias OTR) and Huada (retreads). Triangle also runs an R&D centre in Akron, Ohio, and a US sales office in Franklin, Tennessee.
