Chengshan Tyres

Chengshan is the original brand of the Rongcheng tyre business founded in 1976, now Prinx Chengshan Holdings. The name comes from Chengshan Group, which remains a shareholder of the Hong Kong-listed company. The brand covers car tyres and truck tyres and is sold mainly in China, where the group reports that it supplies 64 vehicle makers. In Europe its CSC-802 car tyre is registered by Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe GmbH.

About Chengshan

The Chengshan brand site dates the business to 1976 and calls it a pioneer of the Chinese tyre industry. It states that Chengshan has won the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology several times.

The parent company floated on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 9 October 2018. In 2019 it raised Rongcheng capacity by 1.65 million all-steel and 1.9 million semi-steel tyres a year, Tyrepress reported. By 2024 the Shandong base was rated at 7.4 million all-steel and 11.53 million semi-steel tyres.

A second factory in Chonburi, Thailand started production on 25 March 2020 after a USD 300 million investment. The group has also announced a USD 380 million plant in Malaysia planned for 6 million semi-steel and 600,000 all-steel tyres a year.

Chengshan Tyre Range

Passenger car. Semi-steel radial car tyres. The CSC-802 summer pattern is registered in the EU in 14 to 16 inch sizes with H and V speed ratings.

Truck and bus. All-steel radial truck tyres are the other half of the brand site. All-steel tyres made up 57.2 per cent of group revenue in 2024.

Certifications and Markets

EU tyre label registrations for the CSC-802 show wet grip class B, fuel class C or D and 69 to 70 dB external noise. The registrations name Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe GmbH as importer, with market entry dated May 2020.

The 2024 annual report says the group supplies 64 vehicle makers, including XPeng and Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile. Domestic distributors generated 21.2 per cent of 2024 revenue and direct sales to vehicle makers 10.1 per cent.
