Winda comes from a factory that began with truck tyres. Its owner, Shandong Wanda Boto Tyre, introduced the Boto truck brand in 2004. In June 2011 it reported that a passenger car radial line would be running within four months. The passenger plant was planned in stages: 5 to 6 million tyres a year in phase one and 15 million when complete. Output stood at 5 million a year in late 2012, with phase two due in July 2013.
